The current contractual arrangement for GP Surgeries is to allow patients to view their summary care record (SCR), request repeat medication and book/cancel appointments online. Riverside Health Centre and Riverside Harworth have enabled this over the past year and we know patients utilise online services.
In 2016/17 the contractual arrangement for GP Surgeries is to offer patients online access to detailed coded information held in their electronic medical record. We are currently working on and implementing a process for patients to access their detailed coded record online, however this will take time and we will update patients once a robust system is in place.
Access to online detailed coded information will be granted on an individual basis to patients aged 16 and over. There will be occasions where a GP may not think it is in a patient’s best interests to view their medical record online. If this happens then the practice will discuss the reasons with the patient.
Medical records are written to help medical professionals look after you and therefore patients may not understand everything they see. We do expect patients may have questions regarding some things they may see in their detailed coded record. Currently we are working on a process to deal with online record access and queries. We will update patients once a system is in place.
Because we plan to allow you to view potentially very sensitive medical information, it will be a patient’s responsibility to keep their login details and password secure.
We hope patients find this information useful. We feel that online services have the potential to greatly benefit patients as well as the practice.
