Flu Immunisations – 2013

Influenza immunisation has grown to become a major public health programme, delivering around 15 million doses of vaccine in a few weeks every autumn. The influenza vaccine has been shown to prevent or improve influenza and reduce complications, hospital admissions and deaths. Again this year the Government’s aim is to offer influenza vaccine to everyone aged 65 years and over, as well as younger people in the established ‘high risk’ areas e.g. people with chronic heart disease, chronic respiratory disease including asthma, chronic renal disease, chronic liver disease, chronic neurological disease eg. stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA), diabetes, immunosuppression due to disease or treatment, pregnant woman and people who are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill.

As in past years Riverside will be taking part in this Vaccination programme

Patients registered with Riverside Health Centre who are in one of the “at risk” categories, will be invited to attend the Buttermarket at Retford Town Hall on one of the following days:

Flu Dates

Monday 1st October

  • 9:00am – 4:30 pm (Buttermarket)

Tuesday 2nd October

  • 9:00am – 4:30 pm (Buttermarket)

Wednesday 3rd October

  • 9:00am – 4:30 pm (Buttermarket)

Patients will receive a letter from the surgery explaining inviting them to come. Additionally for those who cannot make it on these days we will look to provide extra times at the surgery.
