Prescription Ordering Changes

From the 1st November 2019, Riverside Health Partnership is changing the ways you can order your repeat prescriptions. Due to the change in CQC regulations and policies, this current practice is deemed no longer practical.

What’s changing?

To ensure that we provide the best possible service to patients that will maintain patient confidentiality at all times, we are having to make some changes to how patients can order their repeat prescriptions from the practice.

We are asking you to order your medication directly from us at the surgery rather than allowing your repeat prescriptions to be ordered on your behalf by your pharmacy or a company. This will prevent mis-communication or unnecessary delays.

If you already order in this way, you will not be affected by this change.

In order for this to happen, we are removing our Telephone Prescription Ordering Service.

Why is this changing?

These changes will ensure that we do not have as many queues at the reception desk, and enables all repeat prescription requests to be dealt with in a way that maintains safety, accuracy and consistency. We have found that when patients order their own medication, it is much safer to do so rather than 3rd Parties ordering on your behalf.

We also hope to reduce the amount of medication waste. Unused prescription medicines cost NHS England at least £300 million per year – money that can be put into other NHS services!

What do I need to do?

Speak with our reception team to register for Online Ordering. This is the quickest and easiest method to order your medication. Registering for an online account means you can order your medication 24 hours a day. Not only this, but you can book and cancel appointments.

There are a number of ways to order online:

1.) SystmOnline – Once you have received you login details from reception. Access your account on our website (www.riversidehealth.co.uk) Just look for the ‘SystmOnline Login’ button at the top of the page.
2.) The NHS App Available to download from the App Store or Google Play. You will need to register a few details to verify yourself. Alternatively, you can request your 3rd Party Login details from reception.
3.) Evergreen App – This is a similar alternative to the NHS App. If you are already using this app, you may continue to order your medication through this way.

Electronic Prescribing Service

If you have not already done so, you may nominate a Pharmacy for you repeat prescriptions to be sent electronically. This cuts out the Green Paper and saves you a trip to the surgery. Please speak with reception or your chosen pharmacy to set this up.

Please inform the surgery if you no longer need the quantities of medications you have prescribed as repeat medication.  Any money saved can be used for others in our surgeries that are in need.

What is not changing?

If you already hand in your repeat prescription requests to the surgery (either in person or by post) then please continue to do this.

Pharmacy prescription collection and delivery schemes will also not be affected by this change. If you have already nominated a pharmacy for your prescriptions to be sent electronically to the pharmacy, this will also not change.

Gringley Dispensing Service

For patients who are currently with the Gringley dispensary, you will not be affected.

Please continue to call 01777 816 886 to leave a message on the answerphone order your repeats. Any patient who is NOT registered with Gringley dispensary will not be able to order via this telephone message.

Alternatively, you can still order your medication online. However, you MUST specify where you would like to pick up your prescription – either Gringley Dispensary or at Misterton Weldricks Pharmacy.
